Compared to what Rolex had before, Tudor has now caught up and even surpassed. The biggest change in the new Tudor red and black bezel is that it’s now part of the Black Bay 1958 collection. Launched in 2018, the Black Bay 1958 collection is inspired by Tudor’s first 7924 diver’s watch from 1958, which was water-resistant to 200 meters and kept the original 39 mm diameter. Besides stainless steel, Black Bay 1958 has offered 18K gold, 925 silver, and bronze models, and this year’s red and black bezel finally takes the 1958 collection to a new level.

If you’ve seen the previous Black Bay models like the red and blue bezels or the Black Bay Professional, you know they were great in terms of functionality but were a bit thick, with a height of 14.6 mm. The new red and black bezel in the 1958 collection not only keeps the 39 mm diameter but also slims down to 12.8 mm. That’s nearly 2 mm thinner than the older models and rivals the thickness of a Rolex GMT. After wearing it, I didn’t feel much difference from my GMT II, and it’s actually 100 meters more waterproof. A thinner watch is definitely a plus for globe-trotting adventures.

On the style front, the new red and black bezel’s hands, hour markers, and scales are all made of gold to match the bezel numerals. This dark gold adds a touch of retro charm, especially against the matte black dial. Plus, the 24-hour hand is the signature “snowflake” style that Tudor is known for, which harks back to their 70s and 80s diver watches. And instead of a date magnifier, it uses box glass, which not only looks more vintage but also feels more balanced. The dial also features “Master Chronometer” below the GMT text, showing that this Tudor meets high Master Chronometer standards.

The slim profile of the new red and black bezel is thanks to the movement inside. The MT5652 calibre used in the previous Green Bay Greenwich and Black Bay Professional was one of Tudor’s earlier movements, with a 31.8 mm diameter and 7.52 mm thickness, featuring a GMT function and a 70-hour power reserve.

The MT5450-U movement in this new red and black bezel is more compact, with a 30.3 mm diameter and just 6.14 mm thickness. Although it has a slightly shorter power reserve of less than 5 hours, the “U” indicates it’s Master Chronometer certified. This means it boasts 15,000 gauss of anti-magnetic resistance and improved timekeeping accuracy of 0/+5 seconds per day. If I could wish for one more thing, it would be a five-link bracelet for this watch in the future, which would make it even more perfect.

First up, when we’re talking about the hottest GMT diver’s watch this year, it’s got to be Tudor’s red and black bezel. This watch not only gives its big brother a run for its money but also fits perfectly into the Black Bay 1958 series. The watch diameter is now a more wearable 39 mm, and the thickness has slimmed down to just 12.8 mm. That’s almost 2 mm thinner than the previous Black Bay Greenwich model and on par with the thickness of a Rolex GMT. The indexes are made of gold, matching the bezel numerals, and the dark gold gives it a retro, yet luxurious feel.

Now, let’s talk movement. This watch uses the MT5450-U, which is a step up from the MT5652 in the Green Bay Greenwich and Black Bay Professional models. Even though it has a slightly shorter power reserve of 5 hours, the “U” means it’s Master Chronometer certified. It boasts 15,000 gauss of anti-magnetic resistance and keeps time to within 0/+5 seconds per day. If Tudor releases a version with a five-link bracelet in the future, it’ll be absolutely perfect!

Next, TAG Heuer has rolled out a new Aquaracer 300M diver’s watch, and naturally, it comes in a GMT version. Compared to the previous model, this new version is a total upgrade. It features a new two-tone ceramic bezel that’s available in black and blue or black and green. TAG Heuer’s giving you the choice, so pick your favorite! Besides the bezel, the new model has been optimized in other ways, too. It’s now 42 mm in diameter, down from 43 mm, and its thickness is trimmed to 13.1 mm. The silky wavy dial gives it a lively feel, and the TH31-03 calibre inside boasts an 80-hour power reserve, 28,800 vibrations per hour, and chronometer certification. Plus, it has a skeleton rotor with Geneva stripes and the TAG Heuer shield logo.

Finally, last year’s new Avenger collection from Breitling includes both a classic chronograph and a GMT version. The big change in this year’s Avenger is its more refined look, making it better for everyday wear. The new concave crease at the lugs keeps them strong but makes them look more elegant. From the side, the crown guard and case have a staggered layer, giving it a thinner, more layered look. The limited edition of this model is especially striking with bright yellow GMT hands and a second hand that matches the strap stitching. With only 50 pieces available, this watch is a must-have for collectors.

This new watch is water-resistant up to 10 bar (about 100 meters). At 6 o'clock, it has "BiTempo" engraved, which means "time in two places" in Italian, showing off Panerai's Italian heritage.

The new model sports a black sunburst sandwich dial with white Super-LumiNova® to ensure you can read it easily. The caseback has a transparent sapphire crystal and a Panerai Goldtech™ red gold back, letting you see the watch’s inner workings. The strap is black alligator with matching stitching, a brushed Panerai Goldtech™ trapezoidal clasp, and a quick-release system so you can easily swap out the strap.
